YMCA youth sports encourage and promote healthy kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team-building as well as individual development, a positive self-image and a sense of fair play and mutual respect for others.
YOUTH BASKETBALL. YMCA utilizes volunteer coaches to focus on participation and fun! While basic skills of the game are developed through practices and games, every child learns sportsmanship and values necessary to be successful in life. Every game begins with a Youth Sports Pledge and ends with a handshake.
Our youth basketball leagues help kids improve their skills, challenge themselves and grow in sportsmanship. Our basketball programs emphasize the values of team sports, including fair play, team work and having fun. Due to the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the Y has adjusted some of our normal operating procedures.

The YMCA is responsible for forming all teams, but the designated coach is required to call all players on his/her team to relay practice time and confirm participation. Contact must be made prior to the first practice.
The Y offers youth basketball programs for children in grades K–6! Bitty Basketball classes introduce children in grades K–1 to basic basketball fundamentals. Our leagues are for players in grades 2–6 and teach players basketball fundamentals and game skills in a positive team environment.
The Y’s youth basketball league heavily emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship, while teaching kids the basics of the game: shooting, dribbling, rebounding, passing and defense.
